Hey guys, 2 days ago after i showered my piggy I jus put her back into her cage...and while I was getting her cage cover back into place she ran off the cage and fell off. She fell approximately 50cm onto the floor and I got a shock. After which I picked her up (she was kinda in shock too) and inspected her for any injuries (broken tooth, or sprained foot) to which I observed none, cos after I put her back she started to run around her cage after a while. But today I observed that her front right paw's outermost toenails had darkened in color....and i got another shock...so I took her out for another inspection...and realised that her outermost toes were seemingly injured. I wanna bring her to a vet soon, but I dunno any around here (boon lay area). I dun wan her to have a broken or sprained foot to go unattended (which I am suspecting). Anybody had any similar experience? How much will such a checkup cost? Anyone knows of any good vets around this area? Any idea what caused the blackening? I am totally worried now. I need some advise from you kind souls...

We can really know what happen to leg. Go to vet and let then examine, 50 cm is not that high though. But still better to take precaution before it get more serious..... I hope nothing happen

For namly, consultation fees is $22 if I didn't remember wrongly.. You can look for Dr Ling. Btw, you need to make an appointment first. Best if you call early, cos Dr ling is always fully booked..

Is she walking properly? Are you sure the blackening is not dirt or something? if it isn't, then it's prob a blood clot... just like how our nails sometimes get black on the inside after hitting something hard

Yes she is walking properly...no limp...but when I pick her up her toes seem to be lifeless..I will bring her down for a checkup...I'm hoping that it is just a blood clot and not anything more serious.
Thanks for your help guys....

Good luck, I hope your pig gets better. I've tried Dr Ling with my guinea pig before. She is quite good with them.

Just called the other 2...Animal Medical Center charges $29.40 and Animal Clinic charges $31.4 for consultation. Any recommendations to which is better?

I've heard more good reviews of The Animal Clinic compared to the other one. But have not personally tried their vets yet. Only know that Dr Hsu of The Animal Clinic is good cos he comes highly recommended on a few mailing lists, including the dog and chinchilla ones.

Erm...that what about cavies? Cos not all vets are trained on some exotic animals like cavies? Has anyone tried consulting any of this 2 on cavies?

Hey guys! Piggy is back from the vet and her foot was diagnosed ok...no fracture or anything. But there were fur mites on her so we gave her a jab of Biomectin instead. And she didn't even squeak when the needle was poked into her...so i suspect she's mute...but I'm glad her foot was fine Dr. Heng from The Animal Clinic was ok, quite a nice lady, so for anyone else who stays near there may wanna try visiting her if need arises
