Just like to add that while most of the sites originating from US/UK are informative, some of the info is not suitable for local context.
Good e.g. is sites that say hay is excellent bedding 'cos its cheap & dries easily. Not true over here. U try using hay as bedding & u will notice it gets soggy & smelly. Our climate is different from their's.
Also, some sites say during hot weather u should put ice cubes in the cage for the cavies to suck. Firstly, I'm certain this will create a flood once the ice melts. Secondly, their summers are a lot hotter than our average temp.
And many sites say its ok to feed them grass, leaves, etc. Don't forget, over here there is a lot of fogging & insecticide spraying.
So pls take whatever u read on any US/UK based website with a pinch of salt. It is precisely 'cos I found much of the info not relevant to S'pore context which is why I started my own website.
