Frankly, I wouldn't do that unless necessary. Firstly, cavies are tiny & quite fragile compared to dogs. Secondly, many ppl empty their dogs' anal sacs but from what I know, its not compulsary to do that for cavies esp females.

Actually its the boar sex part that we need to clean, it smells quite bad. You need to use cotton bud, and a bit of *pushing* ;D of that part

well I mentioned it before, and I think it should be done for the boars once in a while, maybe once every 1 or 2 months. For sows, there's no need to. For older boars, they might even get impaction when they lose control of their muscles and are unable to expel their caecal pellets which would accumulate in the perineal sac, so for these pigs, their sacs need to be cleaned everyday(hmm..hope my pigs won't get this in the future..) anyway, here's the link again, if you haven't seen it.. www.guinealynx.com/impaction.htmlscroll down to 'a regular routine(no matter what age)'

Umn.. I certainly wouldn't enjoy doing this.. Hee hee. Anyway, is moist cotton wool enough? Still need to use mineral oil ah?

I think mineral oil acts more as a lubricant..so you won't accidentally hurt the pig or something...
