Daniel (who supplies my Breeder's Choice) has informed me that Fibrecycle has released a new bedding called "Back-2-Nature small animal bedding & litter".
Also made from recycled newspaper but apparently its smaller pieces than BC. He gave me a sample bag. Have not opened it yet but judging by how it sounds, I believe its similar to Pet's Preference Soft Texture but might be a little bit bigger pieces.
Remains to be seen how it works for animals that pee a lot like cavies. I think it'll work better for tiny animals that pee very little like gerbils or hamsters.

Right.. I bought a bag of Fibrecycle Back-2-Nature, as BC was out of stock. It comes in flatter pellets as compared to BC, which I feel is better, in the sense that enables the wet pellets to dry faster. (No scientific proof on that, though. Just logical deduction). Price is the same as BC (I got it for $27) but it contains 40L instead of the 35L which the big bag of BC now contains. However, I don't know the weight of the big bag - might be lighter than BC's 13.3kg- yeap. It's pretty good absorbency wise as well - comparable or perhaps even better than BC. So, not a bad deal at all. Think it's more comfortable too. One strange thing is that my cavies seem to enjoy eating it when there's no hay around. I think it's safe to eat, though.

But being flatter, I think it can absorb less moisture. Also, it breaks apart easier than BC.

But being flatter, I think it can absorb less moisture. Also, it breaks apart easier than BC. Hmm..the breaking apart's about the same to me... Don't think there's any harm eating..my pigs ate a little, I think, and nothing happened to them. No real need to mix - you just choose one.. I just wonder which one's better value for $$....

mmm since its also made from recycled paper I think it should be safe. It's not like those clay litter which really expands and clumps togetherwhen wet, bc or the back-2-nature expands because its breaking apart. I don't think it tastes that great anyway, so just make sure you have sufficient hay will do? My opinion..
