Hey everyone, I have tonnes of questions. Please advise? 1) I feed my babies Oxbow Cavy Cuisine, tonnes of hay, and leafy green vegetables daily. Is this even enough vitamin C? 2) How often do the piggies need their bath? I don't give them a bath often because I keep rabbits and it is generally not recommended to bathe rabbits. But I am suspecting the piggies need regular bathing. 3) I came across an ad in Clubpets of wood shavings *without* the harmful phenols. Is that fine? BC is wearing me thin. 4) I occasionally let them run around a huge fenced up area but i notice they generally prefer to stay at a corner. Is this because they generally don't need the area or because they just aren't used to the idea? 5) While trimming the nails of my piggies recently, I noticed that one foot usually has much thicker nails. Is that normal? And this isn't a question but I really do love my piggies They have been popcorning so much recently. Heh.

Hi jawskie! (1) What you are feeding them is good enuf but may I know what leafy veggies are u feeding them? e.g. too much cai-xin, lettuce, cabbage is bad for them. If u r worried it's not enuf, you can try the vit droplets although I've never tried them. (2) U can try giving them a bath once every 4 to 6 weeks although some bathe them every 2 months. Depends on individual n u need to blow dry them after bath in case they catch a cold. (3) What most gps owners will advise u to stick to BC cos most companies know that many pet owners r now shunning wood shavings due to the harmful phenols, we normally take this as a marketing strategy. I've not tried this brand but I'm sticking to my BC or fibrecycle. (4) Some gps are active, some like to sneak around, some like to stay in one corner. Mine enjoys going to corners n staying within their cage, muz be the smell or what but they dislike when I bring them out. So different gps different character but they def dun dart about. They are a little more ditsy. (5) Maybe u can take a pic and post it here so we can see cos I can hardly imagine the foot with thick nails. Hope the info helps.

You can buy Enervon which is a liquid vitamin C for children. This was advised by Dr Ling. Just use a syringe to feed it to your piggies. My piggies have daily dosage of vitamin C.
