Feed them pellets with stabilized vitamin C, vegetables with high vit. C content is quite enough. If you decide to supplement them, I prefer going with those children's vitamin C tablets and feed it to them directly.

emmababy, what's LM? Cucumber pieces? I should try that. Oxbow's Xtra C supplements are really expensive.

I've seen the oxbow vit. C. if i'm not mistaken it's about S$10 - S$12 right. pretty expensive. the kids vit. C I bought costs about 4.65 only for 100 tablets (brand is Cetrinets) - I think even cheaper if you buy at chinese drugstores. It's in 100 mg. tablets so you can cut 1 tablet into 4 to give to 4 piggies.
I don't think you should try the LM liquid vitamins. You can never tell how much water each piggie drinks. And vitamins loose their potency in water quickly - I think for vitamin C it's only good for a few hours. Tablets are better 'coz you can tell exactly how much they take (assuming you hand feed it to them like I do).

By the way, I don't think you should give vit. C supplements regularly 'coz large doses is also not good for piggies. I mean if you give them good pellets and feed them vegetables everyday, I think they might already get enough Vit. C. For my piggies, I give them the supplement about 3 times a week only.

Well from what i read from the net...i think piggies need certain amount of vitamin C everyday. Anyway for the LM liquid vitamins...u can also add two to three drops of it to the veggie/fruits that u feed them. It cost me $7. But since i used it in their drinking water, i have to buy it every month. If u just used it on the veggie & fruits. it can last for a long time. I think there are also other brands. U can go look around.

This is the multivitamin supplement right ? Not sure about the content but maybe can read the label and tell us how much Vitamin C there is ... One thing "bad" about the multivitamin thing is that the vit. c content is way too small. Add that to the fact that you have to change water everyday ... this makes LM kinda a waste to buy. Yeah it's a multi vitamins. It states that it contains 60 mg of Vit C per ounce of solution. Recommended dosage is 2-3 drops per ounce of water or food for young pigs & 3-5 drops for adult piggies.
So i guess, if u want it to be more cost saving. Just drop a few drops on the fruits & veggie & feed it to them daily. For me, i started putting vitamins in their drinking water ever since i had them. So they already acquired a taste for it. If i don't put vitamins in their water, they don't like to drink the water.
I've bought a bottle that is tinted green in colour. It's supposed to prevent ultra violet rays from the sun to destroy the vitamins in the drinking water. So i guess it's ok. Moreover, they usually finish the bottle in a day so i change the water daily. I think they should be able to get the right amount of vitamin C. If they don't have, they would have gotten Scurvy or something by now.

wow! so many suggestions... a friend just introduced another type of Vit C, which is actually meant for dogs (yes, dog need vit c too!)
I just feed half a tab per piggy... so, i guess that's okay then.
