GPs dun use sandbath?? Can't remember what shampoo we use already, think it was those human baby shampoo now then I know it's not good for them so my dog got very good life now, he got a whole array of shampoos and conditioners. Also got the Earthbath Mango Tango for him but Havn't use yet. If the shampoo is too drying, besides using conditioners, you can also try using those leave-in conditioners??

i saw some powder baths before...not sure how to use it for gp...maybe just apply on their fur & brush them??? Cos i dun tik they will roll around the sand like Chins & hammys...besides piggies got very sensitive nose...so might not be a good idea to use the powder bath for them..

I tried sandbath on my piggie and she didn't even move one bit!(except for peeing) I heard human baby shampoo is mild and okay. I've heard of powder perfumes but not poweder baths.. Well last time i brought my piggie to the groomer and she put powder after that... Wah so nice smell

Egads! Please!! Sand bath is for gerbils & gerbils only! Just 'cos the thing may have a GP pic doesn't mean its ok for GPs. As for powder shampoo, those are ok but not great. Simply 'cos if the cavy is really dirty, the powder will not be of much use. Plus u have to keep the powder on for some time & then brush it off.
Back to sand baths, I saw this brand (got Chinese words) which is sand bath but supposedly can use as litter or bedding too. I read thru it thoroughly & found out its actually like clumping litter.
When wet, this sand clumps into hard little balls. Very easy to remove. But if your cavy ends up swallowing some or breathing in some, also very easy to go to heaven. Those clumps end up forming inside your cavy's body & causes blockages that need surgery to remove.
I don't believe in all these short cut methods. For me I rather play safe & do things the traditional way i.e. using shampoo to bathe.
Remember, just 'cos you take drugs & don't die does NOT mean drugs are safe ok!

Oh.. anyway, I thought Chinchillas also use sandbaths?? I mean, Chinchillas are known to rub themselves in Sand. Hammies do too, my friends' hammies bathe in sand.

Just 'cos a chin & a hammie does something, doesn't mean a cavy does it too. As for the pic, you will find that a lot of pet product manufacturers use pics to con ppl. Good e.g. is softwood shavings like pine & cedar. They are toxic to all small animals but the manufacturers happily put pics of bunnies & cavies on it, so ppl who don't know get conned.
