argh i'm so angry. the pet shop ran out of oxbow alfalfa and i had no choice but to go to another pet shop that has nothing but K**T**...
i knw its like a brand tht u guys might not wanna consider ever but i didnt want my gp to be deprived of alfalfa since hes still young.. so i jus bought one bag to tahan me till i can get my hands on oxbow.
when i open the bag, it smelt ok... den i took some out and alamak... its like so hard n stiff.. i've seen pics of alfalfa online before and they look so soft!!!
mine are more like hard dried stems.. i feed my gp alfalfa and also timothy jus to give him some variety now he only eats the timothy and leaves the alfalfa alone!! i dun blame him, i wouldnt wanna eat dried stems too.

I buy my hay from petsarcade too .. but they need $30 for free delivery and I couldnt find that much things to buy so I went to pets kingdom at turf city. They have this brand of timothy hay that I've never seen before... I think the brand's name is sun(somthing.. cannot remember ) It comes in first cut and 2nd cut.. I bought a 24oz of 2nd cut at $12.90... the first cut cost $9.90 for 24oz.. ( compare to oxbow first cut at $16.70 for 40oz ) The hay is softer and I think my piggies enjoyed them too.. they keep wheeing when they smelled the hay...

Pet Kingdom sells Sunseed products. I dun use their products cos I've read bad reviews on them on american forums. But honestly, if you find that it's not bad, I might give it a try.

Here's my observations. I've seen many brands of hay. I find the best to be Oxbow timothy, Oxbow orchard grass & APD timothy. Problem with Oxbow timothy is it tends to be rather hard & at times not very green. Oxbow orchard grass is fine except its always out of stock. APD timothy is always green but those I saw had tons of brown hay in it.
The other brands of timothy that I've seen quite frankly look pathetic. Yellowish & twig-like.
